```{index} single: attr (EV::Stat) ``` ```{index} single: EV::Stat::attr ``` ```{index} single: EV::Stat::prev ``` ```{index} single: EV::Stat::stat ``` # attr The path's status before the change that triggered the callback, as `stat` returns it. The same method has two other names: Also available as `EV::Stat::prev`, `EV::Stat::stat`. - `$w->attr` - the status that triggered the change, as EV last saw it; the difference from `prev` is what changed. - `$w->stat` - stat the path now (with `lstat`), store that as what EV last saw (so it does not report a change you made yourself), and return it. In list context each returns the 13 values `stat` does (the block size and block count are estimates), or an empty list when the path does not exist; in scalar context, whether it exists. All three also fill Perl's stat cache, for `-X _` tests, and a missing path sets `$!` to `ENOENT`.
