```{index} single: Encode::Byte ``` # Encode::Byte ```{pperl-module-badges} Encode::Byte ``` `Encode::Byte` - the single-byte encodings beyond Latin-1: the ISO 8859 family (`iso-8859-2` to `iso-8859-16`), the Windows code pages (`cp1250` to `cp1258`), the DOS code pages (`cp437`, `cp850`, `cp866`, ...), the KOI8 family (`koi8-r`, `koi8-u`, `koi8-f`), the Mac encodings (`MacRoman`, `MacCyrillic`, `MacGreek`, ...), `viscii`, `nextstep`, `hp-roman8` and `AdobeStandardEncoding` - 65 in all. Nothing needs to be loaded: `Encode` loads this module the first time one of its encodings is named, as in `encode('koi8-r', $text)`. This is a native implementation of Encode::Byte 2.04, from the same tables as upstream; `Encode/Byte.pm` is used unchanged. ## Differences from upstream None.
