```{index} single: langinfo (I18N::Langinfo) ``` ```{index} single: I18N::Langinfo::langinfo ``` # langinfo `langinfo($item)` - the string the current locale gives for one `nl_langinfo` item code. `$item` is one of the constants this module exports - `CODESET`, `D_FMT`, `T_FMT`, `DAY_1` .. `DAY_7`, `MON_1` .. `MON_12`, `RADIXCHAR`, `THOUSEP`, `CRNCYSTR`, `YESEXPR` and the rest. The answer comes from the locale in effect, so it follows `setlocale`; `RADIXCHAR` and `THOUSEP` come from the underlying `LC_NUMERIC` locale even though Perl keeps the radix a dot. A string that is UTF-8 in a UTF-8 locale comes back with the UTF-8 flag on. Called with no argument it uses `$_`. An item the C library has nothing for yields the empty string.
