```{index} single: SetReadMode (Term::ReadKey) ``` ```{index} single: Term::ReadKey::SetReadMode ``` # SetReadMode Put a terminal handle into one of the modes 0 to 5. ## Synopsis ```perl Term::ReadKey::SetReadMode(3, \*STDIN); # ReadMode 'cbreak' ``` ## How it works The numeric half of `ReadMode`, which maps the names (`restore`, `normal`, `noecho`, `cbreak`, `raw`, `ultra-raw`) to 0 to 5. The first change of a descriptor saves its settings; mode 0 restores them and forgets them, so the next change saves afresh. Any other number dies "ReadMode N is not implemented on this architecture.".
