PetaMem Research Preview License#

1. Definitions#

“Software” means pperl (PetaPerl), a Perl 5-compatible interpreter implemented in Rust, distributed in binary form under this License, including any accompanying documentation. “Licensor” means PetaMem s.r.o. “You” means the individual or entity exercising permissions granted by this License.

2. Grant#

Subject to the terms below, Licensor grants You a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use, copy, run, benchmark, evaluate, and redistribute the Software in unmodified binary form, for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial, for so long as the Software’s version number is below 1.0.

3. Attribution and Non-Appropriation#

You shall not represent the Software, in whole or in part, as Your own work, nor remove, obscure, or alter any copyright notices, version identifiers, author attributions, or license texts contained in or accompanying the Software. Any redistribution must preserve this License and all original notices intact.

4. Reverse Engineering#

Reverse engineering, disassembly, and decompilation of the Software for the purposes of interoperability, security research, academic study, and personal curiosity are expressly permitted. Publication or redistribution of source code, derived source, or modified binaries obtained through such activity is not granted under this License and is prohibited.

5. Research Preview Status#

The Software is a research preview. Its interfaces, behavior, file formats, performance characteristics, and licensing terms may change without notice in any subsequent release. This License applies only to the version of the Software with which it was distributed.

6. No Warranty#

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. YOU ASSUME ALL RISK ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

7. Limitation of Liability#

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL LICENSOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THIS LICENSE, REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY ASSERTED, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

8. Termination#

This License and all rights granted hereunder terminate automatically upon Your breach of any term. Upon the public release of version 1.0 or later of the Software, this License ceases to apply to subsequent versions, which will be governed by their own license terms.

9. Reservation of Rights#

All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Licensor. No rights in source code, trademarks, patents, or trade secrets are conveyed by this License except as explicitly stated. “PetaMem”, “PetaPerl”, and “pperl” are used here as identifiers of the Software and its origin; no trademark license is granted.

10. Governing Law and Venue#

This License shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to conflict of law provisions. The exclusive venue for any dispute arising hereunder shall be the competent courts of Prague, Czech Republic.
