Functions#

Other Functions#

renew#

$enc->renew - a new reference to the same encoding object (Encode::XS encodings are not cloned).

renewed#

$enc->renewed - always 0 for a table-driven encoding.

name#

$enc->name - the encoding’s canonical name.

cat_decode#

$enc->cat_decode($dst, $src, $off, $term [, CHECK]) - decode $src from byte offset $off onto the end of $dst, stopping after the terminator $term; updates $off and returns true if the terminator was found.

decode#

$enc->decode($octets [, CHECK]) - decode bytes of this encoding to a character string.

encode#

$enc->encode($string [, CHECK]) - encode a character string into bytes of this encoding.

needs_lines#

$enc->needs_lines - false: a table-driven encoding carries no state across lines.

perlio_ok#

$enc->perlio_ok - true if the :encoding() layer can use this encoding, which is whether PerlIO::encoding loads.

mime_name#

$enc->mime_name - the encoding’s MIME charset name, from Encode::MIME::Name.
